Vinted Members Voice Anger Regarding Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Backlash

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.

It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Sizing System Changes

Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.

Manual Updates

A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
